You are much kinder to Pete than I am. There's a lot about her character that I like, but I think she said a lot of stuff that sounded good, without actually doing a good job. I think the scene I most admired her for was when she stood there and let Toby call her a cunt for abandoning him when his kids were kidnapped. She's never there when he needs her most. I watched the talent night episode last week, and her response to realising Toby was a prag was to tell McManus that Toby needed to stop feeling like a victim. It made me so angry. A tiny, tiny effort on her part could have averted so much of what followed.
Murphy, on the other hand, I adore unreservedly. He does some wrong stuff, but I can see how his principles take him there. I love Nathan, too, but haven't hooked into writing her.
Elliot likes his facts. Okay, sometimes he doesn't like them, but he'll suck it up and find them when he knows it's right.
Glad Toby's earning his way back with you. Might give him some hope with Elliot. :-D
Ha! Of course, Holly must be the heroine! Because this story is about fathers, and a daughter should always be the heroine in her father's life. Holly has more to do in this story, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you think.

I think it's why I'm never tempted to write original fic: this whole story is a long-winded way of talking about those shows and about fanfic tropes. Obviously I like praise, because I'm not crazy, but I adore - for example - getting into conversations about the flaws and strengths of Pete and Murphy.
