You are one helluva story teller. I am pretty new to the whole fanfic thing, and I've found some great, gripping pieces out there. This has been my favorite (love blackchaps too). I may or may not have read the first 20 chapters in one sitting on AO3 (I did.) I loved how authentic you're keeping the characters, and how you've brilliantly made undeveloped canon ones your own. I'm waiting for the proverbial shit to hit Toby's fan even harder since that's what he does.
Like others are saying, Holly is amazing. I love that you're not portraying her as some little clueless, broken thing. Children are smarter than we adults often give them credit, and this story doesn't dumb her down (or forget that Toby needs to be with his children) like I've seen others writers do.
Another thing I appreciate: as an American reading a lot of fiction that seems to be written in the UK, I notice when the slang seems off or unnatural, and it can be distracting. Not so with this. I am hearing the awesome dialogue in the characters' voices, so I get to be all wrapped up in feeling all the feelings. And oh, the feelings.. Oz often left me in a giant emotional puddle of "aw, what the fuck," and so have you. I thank you. Good art= evoking raw emotion.
People like you who take the time to compose these wonderful stories for fans are amazing. You've clearly made an impression on quite a few people. I hope this is as gratifying to read as it is to write. Now if I can stay away for awhile so I can have another binge read.
