Wheeeee! firiel77 wrote a sequel to my Beecher/Keller college-AU Higher Education!
And firiel is so much kinder to the characters than I am.

Go and get your delicious young AU Toby/Chris fix with Commencement. And then tell firiel why you liked it.

Summary: Toby is in law school. Chris is definitely not. There are ups and downs but Toby wouldn’t have it any other way.

I make a point of almost never posting here except for stories.

But I had to say, we've finally reached 2018, the year in which my Buffy fic New York is set! I've been waiting for this year to come so I could re-read it and see how I did with my future predictions.

I'm not halfway through yet, but:

Score to me for using phones for everything, including swipe to pay on phones, though the subway doesn't quite have it yet. And for kids living on their tablets, but still reading paper books.

Failure to me for predicting that the Rolling Stones would have stopped touring and would all be dead except Keith Richards.

Definitely a failure of me to vaguely suggest some mild Presidential issue might be a topic of conversation, rather than that Washington DC would be a flaming hellscape of inescapable news horror.

I love leaving my own stories so long I can barely remember them. 'Cos this author wrote all my favourite tropes and a character dynamic that perfectly fits my view of the show. It's like it was written specifically for me! And now I get to read it!

If you're so inclined, here is New York.

Look, I have no plans to leave LJ. I have always found the regular flurries of 'move to dreamwidth!' drama quite irritating.

But I do have drsquidlove on DW, sitting unused. (I had a moment of panic and possessive rage when I realised the ID was taken, but then I realised I was the one who'd taken it, back in the 2011 livejournal-is-dead-sky-is-falling freak-out, so I'm okay now.) Since it's sitting there, I figure I may as well export everything over there.

For sure as long as the oz community is here, livejournal is going to be my primary home and the first place I post (nothing anytime soon, I'm afraid), but if you're friending up over there in case the livejournapocalypse does actually happen one of these times, or that's your primary space, or whatever, then there it is.

Beecher didn't fuck up his parole buying drugs for Bonnie. Yay, everything is awesome! Only... he's maybe not handling his parole as well as other people think he is. Meanwhile, Sean Murphy's been pining after Tim McManus for too damned long. Even so, the two of them hooking up for a blow job is about the worst idea possible.

This was the very first Oz-fic I started! I was originally sucked into Oz fandom because I had this idea for Beecher/Murphy. Four and a half years later, here we are.

This story is finished and complete. I'm aiming to post every three days through February, because I've realised I only get big stories polished and posted if I break them up and force deadlines. Also because this will raise the tone of the piece by ensuring at least a few chapters don't have porn. And then it totally worked out with Murphy Appreciation Month, so yay! You should sign up to share some Sean Murphy love.

Emerald Hills Couples Retreat

Rated PG for vague sexual references and my characters using language that I have no right to use.

Wordcount: 4147

Oz is the property of Tom Fontana and HBO. The characters are used without permission, but with much appreciation.

A-maaaaaa-zing!!!

The incredible dark_dreymer has podfic'd The Giles Thing! All 128 000 words of it!

It's fourteen freakin' hours. (dark_dreymer is not only awesome, but also crazy.) This could keep you occupied as you drove from Sydney to Adelaide. Or London to Edinburgh and back. It could last from Chicago to Las Vegas with enough left for cruising down the Strip. It could entertain you while you ran three full marathons.

And it is so good. There is something weirdly narcissistic but also lovely about laughing at a joke that I wrote... but it's new and awesome because dark_dreymer delivered it so perfectly. It's such a great reading.

The Giles Thing, read by dark_dreymer

Giles Thing poster by katekat

(And this poster is by katekat. Giles Thing has all the awesome bells and whistles!)

If you've never read it before, it's a Giles/Xander story (if you hadn't figured that out from katekat's poster). It begins when a degenerate teenaged Rupert Giles time-travels his way into Sunnydale, and kind of into Xander's pants. He isn't around long, but it's long enough to leave a trail of chaos, and to get Giles and Xander to see each other differently. Xander flails a lot; Giles sighs and rubs his eyes a lot. If you'd like to read along with the audio, the text version is here. Or hit the gilesthing tag on this post.

Teehee!

Having watched the first two episodes of the new season of X-Files, I was moved to re-read one of my very earliest contributions to the fanfic canon:

I really wish I'd re-read it first, because it could have set my hopes a little more realistically.

It was written seventeen years ago, and may reference some episodes you have forgotten, but I feel that it contains a staggering degree of relevance to Season Ten.

Dick Measuring Contest
by Dr Squidlove
drsquidlove@livejournal.com

Vern's crazy old prag Beecher is hosting a dick-measuring contest. Keller isn't stupid enough to get involved. ...Nah, of course he is!

Written for [livejournal.com profile] vanillalime's fantastic prompt 'dick measuring contest' for the party in the dress factory in [livejournal.com profile] oz_magi 2015. (I'm amazed this prompt didn't get fifty responses.) This piece originally posted there.

I've jumbled the character timelines a bit.

Rated mild R... really just because it's set in Oz.

655 words.

A life sentence is a very long time to live in Oz. But with the love of Chris Keller, Toby Beecher will never have to serve those years alone.

I should have thought to fold this in with the art post, but my brain was just thinking in pictures.

I've just realised, there might be Someone Like You readers here who aren't in the Oz communities, who therefore might not know [livejournal.com profile] sahem62896 has an unofficial but thoroughly sanctioned 'few years later' WIP going on his LJ, My Little Runaway. Unofficial because if I ever wrote more, it would clash. Thoroughly sanctioned because I am an eager reader.

Toby and Elliot are all settled and domestic, but things aren't going so well between Harry and his grandparents in San Diego, so Harry has decided to exit, stage left, to New York.

You should read and enjoy and nag him to post faster.

Hello everybody!

I've been away a long time, but I'm trickling back into the world and have a whole slew of Oz stories to read which is very exciting.

But also as a belated thing, I have the final Toby/Elliot art, from the magnificent Barbana, from the last chapter of Someone Like You. Click on it for a larger version.

Toby and Elliot in the snow

Worth waiting, for, is it not? I recommend staring at it while sitting somewhere cold, eating chocolate mousse cake.

And also, it's worth telling barbanaqoc@hotmail.com how deliciously glorious it is.

If you have a wish for more, her earlier work was in:
Chapter 11
Chapter 22
Chapter 36

And, while I'm at it, [livejournal.com profile] haru776 gave wonderful pictures which are on
Chapter 38
Chapter 55 (Edited to add this one! Ahhhh, sorry haru, I totally forgot!!!)
Chapter 63

Also, I have brag tell you that in one of the most awesome story responses of all time, [livejournal.com profile] vanillalime made Toby's salted caramel peanut butter pie. Which surely also counts as story art.

Aaaand, in case someone has stumbled across this entry from parts unknown, here is Someone Like You, (written October 2014 - April 2015):
